Joseph Forte scored 23 points, and Kris Lang matched his careerhigh with 22 as 15th-ranked North Carolina shot 58 percent from thefield en route to rolling to a 95-74 victory Sunday against Buffaloin Chapel Hill, N.C.
Jason Capel added 16 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10assists for the second triple-double in Tar Heels history. BrendanHaywood had the first Dec. 4.
North Carolina (6-2) never trailed. The Tar Heels led by 13 pointsearly in the second half before Lang scored on a layup, a follow shotand a dunk in a 55-second span to boost the lead to 19.
Jason Robinson led Buffalo (1-4) with a career-high 21 points.
Illinois St. 95, Texas-San Antonio 87: Tarise Bryson scored 20points, and the Redbirds (5-1) capitalized on a big advantage at thefree-throw line to outgun the Roadrunners (3-5) in Normal, Ill.
Shawn Jeppson added 16 points and Shedrick Ford 12 for IllinoisState, which was 34-for-42 from the line to Texas-San Antonio's 12-for-22. Devin Brown led the Roadrunners with 22 points.
Southern Illinois 94, Murray St. 79: Kent Williams scored 27points, and Jermaine Dearman added 22 points and 11 rebounds to powerthe Salukis (4-3) past the Racers (4-2) in Carbondale, Ill. IsaacSpencer led Murray State with 27 points.
NOTE: Michigan State freshman point guard Marcus Taylor isexpected to miss two to four weeks with a fractured right ringfinger. Taylor was hurt when a Kentucky player stepped on his handduring a scramble for a loose ball Saturday. He is averaging 9.8points and 4.5 assists.
