After registering a combined 85,000 new voters at summits in Houston and Los Angeles, Dr. Benjamin E. Chavis, President and CEO of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, discussed the objectives of the summit that begins Saturday at the UIC Pavilion.
Joined by Russell Simmons and a variety of entertainers from the Hip-Hop industry, including Chicago's own "Papa San," Wallace "Gator" Bradley, "Do Or Die," "American," Rev. Run from Run D.M.C. fame and politicians such as Clerk of the Circuit Court, Dorothy Brown and Dorothy Tillman, Chicago's 3rd Ward Alderman, Chavis declared, "We've come to lift up and celebrate Hip-Hop."
