THE UNCERTAIN VETERAN: DUSTY ZIEGLER.(SPORTS)

Dusty Zeigler has started 68 of his past 69 games, including playoffs, but the Giants center said he always has approached training camp like he's fighting for his job.

``In the past, I always treated it the same way,'' Zeigler said. ``I always looked over my shoulder.''

This year, Zeigler also will be looking down, at his right knee.

He had off-season surgery to removed frayed cartilage in the knee. The condition was worse than doctors had expected, and they excised more tissue than planned.

Zeigler expressed concern about his readiness for training camp.
